Background
Being a paralegal wasn’t always what Brandie saw herself doing, but she fell into it when she was working in the hospitality industry. She had a mentor who took her under his wing and taught her all about the law field. She soon realized that she got a lot of enjoyment from it, so she went back to school to get her paralegal certification.
Brandie has been with a couple firms before joining the Warnken team. However, she believes that there is a realness and grittiness here at Warnken, that her previous places didn’t have. “There is not an air of pretention here, we are very real and straightforward with the clients. We explain how things will go and set realistic expectations for the clients, letting them know that we will be with them through it all.” She knows that not every firm treats their clients like that but when you set unrealistic expectations they can end up disappointed. She values having that transparency between her and the clients.
Working At Warnken
Her favorite part about being a worker’s compensation paralegal is at the end of the case. When clients finally receive the compensation they deserve after years of fighting. She knows that nothing can make up for everything they’ve been through, but she’s happy knowing that she helped them get to a better place.
The majority of Brandie’s work day consists of hounding the insurance companies and defense attorneys. It seems as if they enjoy dragging the case along, making it harder for her clients. She spends most of her time fighting for them to give her the information she needs for her cases. It can be frustrating to deal with the defense attorneys because they don’t listen or they ignore what she has asked of them.
When Brandie is not at work she loves to spend time with her cats, and enjoys writing historical fanfiction. She loves history and any story that has a little escapism involved, like superheroes and sci-fi/dystopian universes. Her coworkers can attest to her love for the show, Interview With the Vampire and her favorite movie is The Empire Strikes Back. She’s traveled to Italy and Germany, and in the next few years would love to learn another language like German.
