Background
Cooper grew up in Maryland, and went to the University of Maryland for his undergrad, where he majored in journalism. Prior to working at Warnken, Cooper worked at a communications technology company for 9 years as a customer communications specialist.
In undergrad, Cooper thought he was going to pursue a career as a music journalist, but, after he took a media law class, he considered pursuing a career in law. From there Cooper decided to go to law school and in May of 2025 received his Doctor of Law – JD from the University of Baltimore.
Cooper initially looked into intellectual property law, and then explored trusts and estates because he enjoys writing. When he first applied to Warnken, he had never considered a career in workers’ compensation, but he grew to enjoy and love workers’ compensation because he’s “fighting the good fight.” Cooper loves speaking with clients, observing hearings and following the path of the cases.
Working At Warnken
Cooper loves that, at Warnken, we get together and do fun activities when we can. He enjoys how well the team works together; “the people here make everything worth it.” He also said that Rebecca Smith is one of the best bosses/mentors he has ever had. He has learned a lot from her.
The one thing that can be difficult as a workers’ compensation paralegal is that it can be hard talking to clients who are in tough situations. The law tends to move slow, which can make clients’ lives difficult. This, in turn, can make his job difficult because all he wants to do is help them. Cooper loves communicating and interacting with clients, however, and is happy when a good result is reached in the end.
In Cooper’s free time, he enjoys playing video games and reading books with his book club. His favorite genre is horror, and he loves to watch horror movies at the movie theatre. His favorite band is Blur, and he loves to see live music when he can. The thing he loves the most, though, is his 10 year-old dog named Poe, a miniature pinscher mix.
