Rebecca Smith wins again. After getting a great award at the Workers’ Compensation Commission for her client, the employer, Coca-Cola Refreshments USA, appealed the decision to the Circuit Court for Washington County. After receiving the employer’s appeal, Rebecca cross-appealed, seeking a finding of “perm total.”
Depositions were taken. Extensive preparations were made. Then, this past week, a Hagerstown jury heard two days of testimony and argument. Rebecca’s client testified about how life changing the injuries were.
After an hour and a half, the jury returned a verdict finding in favor of Rebecca’s client. Coca-Cola Refreshments USA thought the case was worth about $50,000 to Rebecca’s client. The jury’s verdict was actuarially worth more than $800,000!
Rebecca Smith is not afraid. She will not be bullied by corporate giants. She will stand up for her clients.
