- Client was working in an excavator in a slag yard when the slag exploded. The injured worker was thrown violently around the excavator and sustained significant injuries to his entire body. His was diagnosed with a cerebral arteriovenous malformation and underwent a Cyber Knife stereotactic radio surgical procedure for a cerebral fossa arteriovenous fistula. He also underwent two separate trabeculectomies; one to each eye. The injuries to his eyes caused ongoing light sensitivity and vision loss. As a result of the traumatic brain injury, the Claimant was diagnosed with post-concussive migraines, cognitive difficulties, and dizziness. As a result of his injuries and the length of time for his recovery, the worker developed depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and post-traumatic stress disorder. The worker also sustained injuries to his neck, shoulder, back, and knee. For the neck, he received a dorsal root ganglion block. The treating physicians indicated that the injured worker was not able to return to suitable gainful employment.
